Protective Service Detail – PSD

Protecting the US Army’s senior officials became the mission of the Office of the Provost Marshal General in 1967, during the height of the Vietnam War. The “principals,” a term created by PSU agents to identify the people they protect, were the secretary and chief of staff of the Army. The protective service mission was assigned to the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command in 1971, The doctrine is embodied in Field Manual 19-136 (Protective Services) hence a Protective Service Detail and not Private Security Detachment as has been used some media exposure.

IBA HQ has provided training in PSD skills for US ARMY Special Forces (1 & 10 SFG) and US Military Police, Thai Navy SEALs, Thai DELTA (Task Force 90), Thai Police, Thai Police, Turkish Police, IRAQI Police, Afghan Ministry of Defence PSD Teams, UN Forces based at Tuzla, Bosnia.
